Recently the 13th Conference of Parties (CoP) to the United Nation Environment Programmes (UNEP) Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals (CMS) was held in Gandhinagar India. More on the news India has officially taken over its Presidency for the next three years till 2023. CMS COP13 was the largest ever in the history of the Convention. o The Conference of Parties is the decision making organ of the Convention (CMS). CMS COP13 was the first of a series of international naturerelated meetings in 2020 which will culminate with the UN Biodiversity Conference in Kunming China in October which is expected to adopt a new global biodiversity framework the Post2020 Global Biodiversity Framework. Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals (CMS) or Bonn Convention It aims to protect terrestrial aquatic and avian migratory species throughout their ranges. CMS was signed in Bonn Germany in 1979 as an intergovernmental treaty under the aegis of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). CMS brings together the governments of the countries through which migratory species pass the Range States it lays the legal foundation to conduct conservation measures on a global scale.
